Trust God, Not Your GPS

Exploring new places is something I love to do. Whether hiking in the mountains or hiking in a city, discovering new places and seeing new sights is fun. Fortunately, my wife Brandi, also enjoys finding and exploring new places. Living in Madagascar has given us many opportunities for finding and exploring new places as well as new cultures.  This week we had to come to the capital, Tana, to get our pictures and fingerprints for our visa’s. Brandi and the kids then flew to the US to visit her parents as her mother is working towards recovery after her brain surgery several months ago. Friday, I found myself with a day to go exploring the city before heading off to another city for some intensive language study. There were a few stores I wanted to find and so I set out around lunchtime after taking care of some other tasks. All I wanted was a Calzone

(The following story happened in October right before our AIM Unit Retreat. Brandi and the kids had just arrived back in Tana, the capital, from a month in the US. I was in Diego getting ready to meet them the next day at our unit retreat.)  All I wanted was some pizza. A calzone to be exact. The best one I know of in town is at Sui & Gui, thanks to the Orners who introduced us to this Italian run pizzeria. I was there a few days ago and met the owner. (Brandi and the kids are out of town, I have cooked rice and vegetables, but I do prefer to go eat a pizza) He is an Italian who moved here 6 or 7 years ago to live and run the best pizza place in town. That is where I was heading at 6pm this evening. I did not make it, unfortunately.  Even when I do not want to stand out, it is near impossible for me in Diego. On the move!

We have been amazed at how the Lord is working in our lives and affirming our call to Madagascar.  We are now at 61% of our monthly minimum needed to go to Diego Suarez Madagascar to live and minister among several different people groups.  We recently took an extended trip to South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia to meet and share with many people individually, in small groups, and in church services.  It was a great trip and and is so exciting to see people from all over the country being led to be a part of the ministry the Lord has led us to for His glory.  We ask that you continue to pray or begin praying for our support to reach 100% by December. We have more trips being scheduled and some exciting fundraisers in the works that will involve many people coming together to pray for the people of Madagascar and support us financially.  We have so much to do before we are ready to go but we are constantly marking things off our list.
