Almost there!

These are exciting and exhausting days.  We are at 98% of our MINIMUM monthly support we need to join AIM and move to Madagascar in July!!!  We must have our support raised by December 15th to be able to move to the AIM Florida facility in January.  We will live and work there for 6 months and then head to Africa in July with our teammates!  We are so excited.  Our days are filled with traveling, packing, purging,  homeschooling, support raising, and social engagements during the holidays.  We have seen the Lord be so faithful and so evident in our lives throughout this process.  He has called us to this and He is blessing our efforts to be obedient to that call.  We are also preparing for the 5k run/walk/prayer walk THIS Saturday!  We are hoping for a great turnout and the weather is going to be perfect!  Please pray for all that we are involved in and for the goodbyes that the next 6 weeks will bring as we pack and move to Florida on our way to Madagascar.  God is at work and we are

I really get excited about what the Lord has for us as I see Him working in other believers lives.  We have had such a wonderful opportunity these last few months to speak to different groups of people both in church settings and one on one.  Though the travel has been tiring, it has been a blessing.  As we have talked about where the Lord is sending us and about what we expect the Lord to do in Madagascar, we have also been blessed to be able to pray with people and hear about the needs of those we get connected with.  We don't see this as a venture in How can you support and pray for the Johnsons.  No, this is so much more than that.  We have been able to encourage and pray with and for families in turmoil, health situations, mission discussions for future missionaries to the nations, and so many other things AS we are trying to be faithful in what the Lord has called us to overseas.  Many say to us, it must be hard to now be raising your own support.  I can honestly say, it has

On the move!

We have been amazed at how the Lord is working in our lives and affirming our call to Madagascar.  We are now at 61% of our monthly minimum needed to go to Diego Suarez Madagascar to live and minister among several different people groups.  We recently took an extended trip to South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia to meet and share with many people individually, in small groups, and in church services.  It was a great trip and and is so exciting to see people from all over the country being led to be a part of the ministry the Lord has led us to for His glory.  We ask that you continue to pray or begin praying for our support to reach 100% by December. We have more trips being scheduled and some exciting fundraisers in the works that will involve many people coming together to pray for the people of Madagascar and support us financially.  We have so much to do before we are ready to go but we are constantly marking things off our list. Let us know is you know anyone or an

He is at work!

The Lord is pulling all the pieces together.  We are at 32% of our monthly support and about to begin traveling.  This summer has not gone as expected but i can see so much of The Lord's hand in all of it.  My dad had triple by-pass surgery in June unexpectedly and i was able to stay with him for 3 weeks.  (Please pray for his continued recovery, it has not gone as expected and he continues to have complications with medicines and regaining his strength.)  What a wonderful blessing to be able to be there to help he and my mom.  We delayed some travels but are now gearing up for several things. We will take the month of August to travel to Arkansas, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.  Whew! It will be a lot of quality time in the car with the kids and we are looking forward to seeing all the people those places represent.  We have a fundraiser coming up in September hosted by my Bible study group.  Earlier this month, we had a huge garage sale hosted by a friend

So what do we expect in Madagascar???

I know that so many people have the cartoon in mind when they think of Madagascar. Well here are some things we know we will be experiencing.  The island is the 4th largest in the world.  Think Texas plus.  There are incredibly varied ecosystems from one end of the island to the other.  Yes there are lemur monkeys of various kinds that live in the forests but there is so much more.  The people are diverse and welcoming from what we have heard.  There are lots of incredible insects and beautiful chameleons.    French is the official government language because they were a french colony so our french will definitely be used.  But the people speak Malagassy, which is what we will learn.  We will live in the town of Diego Suarez at the northern most tip.  It has a deep water port and so they export goods like rice, fruit, and sugar cane.  The people live on a diet of rice, beans, lichi berries, various other fruits and fish.  The fishing industry is how many feed their families.  There i

We have been very encouraged this last week by how the Lord is leading people in regards to our future ministry.  In a month of support raising we are at 20%!!  This weekend we attended a homeschooling conference.  The speakers were excellent and i learned a ton.  I am still praying about what curriculum i need to do for the Fall and our time in Madagascar.  It is overwhelming to think that far ahead but the Lord is faithful and He will guide me through it.  There is just so much good stuff to choose from and the needs of my daughters are so different. Something really cool happened while we were there.  I was asking a speaker a question about curriculum after a session and told her about our plans to go to Madagascar and where we had served before.  She stopped me and said "we give all of our curriculum to missionaries for free".  I was just stunned and burst into tears.  It was such an unexpected blessing.  I had looked at the really cool stuff her booth had but knew that

Off and running

We are off to a good start raising support.  We are already at 10% in just 2 weeks since we made the announcement!  We know in the beginning it will be exciting and faster then expected but near the end it could be daunting.  BUT we do know that because God has called us to this, He will also provide for us to go there!  It is a whole new mindset than we have ever considered before in regards to mission work.  Previously we raised support for one large pot to be spread out among many.  Now we raise support for our individual ministry in Madagascar.  There is alot of accountability in that as well as connectivity within the body.  People who are led by the Lord to financially support us encourage us that God has a plan and He is faithful.  Thus the title address of this blog!!  THIS IS A FAITH JOURNEY!!!  We have SO much work to do to get ready to go.  Time is short even though our departure date is 8 months away!  The last piece of the puzzle to start fundraising full steam is receiv

Destination......Known!!!!!

FINALLY we have a destination!  Through much prayer, testing of our faith, overcoming fears, crazy circumstances and God's complete sovereignty we are headed to Diego Suarez Madagascar with Africa Inland Mission in January 2016!!!  We know that because God is sending us, that He will also provide for us through each step of the process.
