So what do we expect in Madagascar???

I know that so many people have the cartoon in mind when they think of Madagascar. Well here are some things we know we will be experiencing.  The island is the 4th largest in the world.  Think Texas plus.  There are incredibly varied ecosystems from one end of the island to the other.  Yes there are lemur monkeys of various kinds that live in the forests but there is so much more.  The people are diverse and welcoming from what we have heard.  There are lots of incredible insects and beautiful chameleons.    French is the official government language because they were a french colony so our french will definitely be used.  But the people speak Malagassy, which is what we will learn.  We will live in the town of Diego Suarez at the northern most tip.  It has a deep water port and so they export goods like rice, fruit, and sugar cane.  The people live on a diet of rice, beans, lichi berries, various other fruits and fish.  The fishing industry is how many feed their families.  There i

We have been very encouraged this last week by how the Lord is leading people in regards to our future ministry.  In a month of support raising we are at 20%!!  This weekend we attended a homeschooling conference.  The speakers were excellent and i learned a ton.  I am still praying about what curriculum i need to do for the Fall and our time in Madagascar.  It is overwhelming to think that far ahead but the Lord is faithful and He will guide me through it.  There is just so much good stuff to choose from and the needs of my daughters are so different. Something really cool happened while we were there.  I was asking a speaker a question about curriculum after a session and told her about our plans to go to Madagascar and where we had served before.  She stopped me and said "we give all of our curriculum to missionaries for free".  I was just stunned and burst into tears.  It was such an unexpected blessing.  I had looked at the really cool stuff her booth had but knew that

Off and running

We are off to a good start raising support.  We are already at 10% in just 2 weeks since we made the announcement!  We know in the beginning it will be exciting and faster then expected but near the end it could be daunting.  BUT we do know that because God has called us to this, He will also provide for us to go there!  It is a whole new mindset than we have ever considered before in regards to mission work.  Previously we raised support for one large pot to be spread out among many.  Now we raise support for our individual ministry in Madagascar.  There is alot of accountability in that as well as connectivity within the body.  People who are led by the Lord to financially support us encourage us that God has a plan and He is faithful.  Thus the title address of this blog!!  THIS IS A FAITH JOURNEY!!!  We have SO much work to do to get ready to go.  Time is short even though our departure date is 8 months away!  The last piece of the puzzle to start fundraising full steam is receiv
