Interwoven

I really get excited about what the Lord has for us as I see Him working in other believers lives.  We have had such a wonderful opportunity these last few months to speak to different groups of people both in church settings and one on one.  Though the travel has been tiring, it has been a blessing.  As we have talked about where the Lord is sending us and about what we expect the Lord to do in Madagascar, we have also been blessed to be able to pray with people and hear about the needs of those we get connected with.  We don't see this as a venture in How can you support and pray for the Johnsons.  No, this is so much more than that.  We have been able to encourage and pray with and for families in turmoil, health situations, mission discussions for future missionaries to the nations, and so many other things AS we are trying to be faithful in what the Lord has called us to overseas.  Many say to us, it must be hard to now be raising your own support...

Visiting Sinot

Sinot [see-new] is a young man in his 20’s who I met at the carpentry shop in December while trying to buy a table and chairs. He works on various projects there and from the start he has been good at helping me with language, even though I often cannot understand his accent very well. He introduced me to his family and has invited me over to talk with them on several occasions. He lives with his mother and three sisters. His father has never been mentioned other than that he does not live near him.  Sinot called the other day and invited me to his home. I was very interested to visit since Ramadan has started and I know that his sister is a serious Muslim and he has hinted, without committing, that he is as well. All I wanted was a Calzone

(The following story happened in October right before our AIM Unit Retreat. Brandi and the kids had just arrived back in Tana, the capital, from a month in the US. I was in Diego getting ready to meet them the next day at our unit retreat.)  All I wanted was some pizza. A calzone to be exact. The best one I know of in town is at Sui & Gui, thanks to the Orners who introduced us to this Italian run pizzeria. I was there a few days ago and met the owner. (Brandi and the kids are out of town, I have cooked rice and vegetables, but I do prefer to go eat a pizza) He is an Italian who moved here 6 or 7 years ago to live and run the best pizza place in town. That is where I was heading at 6pm this evening. I did not make it, unfortunately.  Even when I do not want to stand out, it is near impossible for me in Diego.
